21 Nov SMM (social media madness)
It’s official, the wedding world has social media madness! It’s a serious affliction, and one that needs to be monitored closely when planning your wedding day.
Ok, you got me
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Pinterest, Instagram and the rest. If we’re honest, it’s mostly to have a nosey at what everyone else is up to. But it’s also a great way to seek inspiration, catalogue your ideas and help visualise and plan your wedding day. And that’s the key for me, it’s your day. Not Jane Blogger who’s filtered and photoshopped her images into unachievable perfection. Your wedding should be about you, your partner, and what is special to you both.
So many trends, so little time
It’s easier than ever to get caught up in the whirlwind of trends, with images bombarding us from all angles about the ‘newest’ colour, the ‘it’ dress and the ‘must-have’ venue. But always bring it back to what is true to you. The memories of your wedding day will last a lifetime, so make choices that reflect who you are as a couple. As for the theme, often the biggest consideration is the time of year for your wedding – a soft summery look is not going to work well in the middle of winter, so embrace the winter setting and go for deeper darker colours to create a winter wonderland vibe. Equally beware the summer pastel wedding. It can look amazing but bear in mind your bridesmaids colouring, what will suit them, and perhaps go for a slightly deeper tone rather than forcing them all into the tanning salon!
It’s all about you
When it comes to you, the bride, just remember this… That incredible look from your partner as you walk down the aisle? That’s all about you. They don’t know which dresses you ‘pinned’, or lusted over for months, they just see YOUR dress. They see how amazing you feel and that comes from finding the dress that you love when it’s on YOU, that fits you perfectly, and says everything about your day that you wanted it to.
It’s your story, make it your wedding day xx
