Trend Alert – Soft Wedding Dresses

Soft wedding dresses are making a come back this season! As the trend for outdoor festival themed and boho weddings continues to grow, brides are looking for a gown to compliment that relaxed vibe. But it can be a difficult balance to get right. You want to feel relaxed and ethereal, but not loose the drama and impact of a beautiful wedding dress. So, here’s our guide to soft wedding dresses!

What brands should I look at?

Wendy Makin is a wonderful Australian designer and naturally suited to soft gowns. The beautiful “Gigi” from the French Collection is a stunning tulle gown covered in stunning sparkle. With a long train and full skirt, you don’t loose any of the drama of a wedding gown, but achieve it in a really soft and romantic way.

Art Couture have launched some softer tulle styles this season. Pleated tulle, soft lace applique and a touch of sparkle create a really special but relaxed vibe.

Enzoani are known for their romantic gowns, and the Lexi is a wonderful example. Soft lace layered with tulle, with a stunning cut away back, creates a stunningly romantic look.

I’m looking for something a bit different

Soft gowns are a wonderful opportunity to add some colour in to your look. Nude and blush are really key colours, and because of the soft fabrics really emphasis the movement and drape of the fabric. Choose a veil that matches the subtle tones and create a stunningly unique look.

Don’t be afraid to go bold with your flower choices too. With or without a veil, beautiful pops of colour in your hair can really add drama to a wedding dress, and help capture the feel of your wedding.

I’m worried my dress won’t suit the setting

A soft wedding dress is going to look beautiful in any setting, but there can be a concern that the gown is too “big” or “glam” for an outside venue. Our advice in this case is simple. You are a bride! And you need to feel special in your wedding dress. Don’t undersell yourself, you need a dress that you love and that won’t always be the most practical choice!
